Bio: Alexia Alexiadou
Alexia Alexiadou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece and received her MBA in Finance at City University, London. After working for a time in the field of finance, she gave it up to enter the world of gastronomy, thus following a family tradition. Her love of the ethnic cuisines she encountered while living in the USA, Great Britain and Italy, and her trips all over the world, from the capitals of Europe to far and exotic places like: Bali, Bangkong, Hong-Kong, Sidney, Beijing, Tokyo, Oahu, inspired her to write and publish her first cookbook, “Exotic Cuisine”.
Mrs Alexiadou is the publisher of REALFOOD magazine, the best selling monthly food magazine in Greece.
She frequently appears on TV, both nationally and internationally broadcasting Greece’s popular Morning Coffee Show. In the past 10 years she has created two successful cookbook series. The first series circulated with Greece’s best selling TV magazine, for 3 years, “20 Best Recipes for ... “, has won international acclaim and the Diplome d’ Honneur at the 1998 World Cookbook Fair at Perigeux, France and has sold in a total of 30 titles, more than 2,500,000 copies in Greece alone! The second series run for 2 years (2005-2007) along with Greece’s best selling daily Newspaper «ΤΑ ΝΕΑ» and has sold in a total of 17 titles, more than 1,500,000 copies in Greece.
At the 1999 TASTING AUSTRALIA event, she was awarded the silver Laddle award for the photograph and recipe of Salt Preserved Sardine. She is an active member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals in the USA where in 2007 she gave two lectures to the gastronomy professionals.
Mrs Alexiadou has written and published many books, among with the well known trilogy of Luxurious Coffee Table Books: “Cooking a Love Affair”, “Wedding Days” and “Cooking a Fairytale”, which accompany young people interested in cooking from their early stages of getting familiar with the kitchen, to cooking for two as a married couple and cooking for a family. All three books have been translated in English, have successful sales abroad (USA, G.Britain, Australia, Canada) and have won international awards over the past 10 years. book is already a best seller in the Greek market. The english edition of the book is already available.
Mrs Alexiadou now makes her home in Athens with her husband, Evangelos Kitsakis and their two daughters Chara and Vefa.
